1, Introduction

This is my one of the final modules to take as my final semester. In this page, I'm going to write down what I've done in the module and what I've got so far in the each sonic design module every week.
In this week, I've learnt about basic of sound function and simple usage of Adobe Audition that I'll mainly use for rest for the weeks to develop our audio project.

2, Main things to learn in this module

First of all, we had to watch the video applied on myTimes. There are two videos about sonic designs and I have also read the PD document about the sonic design module itself. Basically, sonic design is the one of the design to edit AUDIO in multimedia that enriches the environment of media such as videos, movies, games and so on. To complete the module in safe, we had to understand what we're going to learn .

  • The main points of the topic we're going to learn are. :
  • Nature of Sound
  • What nature behavior creates any sounds?
  • Nature of Sound
  • How Sound can be captured
  • How sound can be produced
  • Analyze and use it.
  • How to convert it to digital world
  • PRO tools

These given videos are all about how does the sound works. As you may already learn in junior high school, the sound is the vibration of particle going through the direction. The sound we normally hear is the vibration of object and perception of eardrum with translation in brain. The vibration of objects become sound by change of density of particle (air particle in this case, but the sound can be heared in every object even solid, liquid and gas, each object have different speed of transition.) Condense and rarefaction of particle goes in direction and it hits to eardrum, That is the basic function of how the sound works.

To explain more about this, there are 2 factors that may changes the pitch of sound and volum of sound. Frequency and attitude.

Frequency

The wave of the sound can be different due to the number of the waves per second, it is called frequency which means "how many waves can be made per second?" . More waves of sound, (condense and rarefaction) more speed of vibration is going to occur. As the vibration gets increased and increased, the pitch of the sound is going to be higher and higher.
Diagram of sound wave ("WHAT IS SOUND WAVE", MIKE MIGAS, 12 May 2017, https://mikemigas.com/what-is-sound-wave/)
The sound of wave can be described as a wave the diagram shown above, it can be seen as highest pitch describes the peak of dense and lowest part describes peak of of rarefaction, The distance between top of each waves can be meant "frequency", less distance between two or waves is going to be high frequency, if there are more distance between waves can be lower frequency in opposite. More frequency will become higher sound and less frequency will become lower sound.

Attitude

This is much more easier to understand compared to the frequency. The concept of attitude is the strength of sound wave, as I have already said, the sound wave is the visualised form of the sound wave formed by condense and rarefaction of particles, the hight of the sound wave describes the strength of vibration of particles. The name of sound wave is called "attitude", as the hight of attitude goes higer and higher, more energy is going to be made, then the volume of sound will begger as the attitude goes higher and higher.

3, Adobe Audition

After studying briefly about audio effect and sound function. The module moved to the step to use actual Adobe Audition. This is the Adobe software which edits sound and audio. In this week, we have learnt "how to use parametric equalizer?" by using actual Adobe Audition.
Second point of this project is about trying Adobe Audition's Equalizer to limiting and emphasizing particular part of frequency of sound and control volume of sound loudness. The key point is that each particular part of sound must be detected by controlling the frequency to be used/removed.
The given task is all about editing given audio to use adobe Audition to emphasize each part of audio. I estimate the guiter as main part of the music in the list, and I also tried to emphasize base that decorate the music and tone made by guiter in given audio. The hardest point for this task is how can I detect the part of audio I really want to use, then I also found it hard to emphasize the part of the audio that I really want to use, Depends on the limitation and range of equalier, the effect and impression of audio can be change. I really paid attention for every track to get right instrument to be used for each part of music.

My final equalizer shape for main (guiter) tune for sound.

My final equalizer shape for base tune for sound.
In the end, my audio project had ended like this and I am quite satisfied about the quality of its work. I still feel like I would like to use Adobe Audition much more to be used.
