This week, we've learnt about the 2 different topic, "3 different story structure" and "different shoot and angles". The first one is the idea to make a basic structure of the story and the last one is the different way to take a object in the filming. I also made a movie for last topic to understand more about the video editing.
2, Story types
To form an attractve story, you must have an idea about "3 different story structure", it's basically numbers of ideas tp establish the structure of story itself. It identifies the scene to introduce the world itself, then introduce main problems to solve, then it leads to an end of the climax. The point you must make sure to notice is that everything visible and audibly present in film, which means that you must represent every feature in the film.
1, Story and Plot
Before we jump into main core, you must understand the differences between story and plot. Basically story is the idea about what is happening in the screen, on the other hand, plot is the reason of the event in the scene, therefore story is the sequence of the result of plot. Every video creator consider about creating film as sequence of scene and scenes and we must make sure that we have to maintain fluency in the film p make a better story in the film.
2, 3 story structure
In the main story structure, there are 3 different story structure ideas and they are called "Act 1", "Act 2" and "Act 3". Basically, its flow is introducing the story, leads to the climax, then answer to the all questions/problems coe up in the story.
1, Act 1
This is the process which introduce main ideas about the story. It can be just introduction of the story, world or incident which is going to happen later. To explain it more, it's the first part of the story to set up the world where the story takes place, it also introduction main story features like characters or their current desires or aiming things (An Easy Guide To The Three-Act Structure, https://alannajlawson.com/writers-resource/the-art-of-story-structure/story-breakdown-the-3-act-story-structure) Act one scene should introducing the main ideas (or goal) about main characters in the film, all of the scene comes after the introduction must follow what introduction said.
2, Act 2
This is the section where we need to take scenes with the all information introduced in Act 1. This section will fill up almost half of the film.
In this section, there'll be new challenging scene or conflict against the protagonist untill the climax of the film. All of these challenging event must be obstacles of the story. Additionally, the main goal of the story must maintain during this scene until it reached to an end of Act 2. You can add sub plots or sub story during this act 2, but make sure as main goals, main characters and protagonist should be maintain 8in the story. You can also create the scene about conflict between antagonist and protagonist and introduction about the antagonist during this part of th story. Spend much time to create the conflict scene to immerce audience and it hopefully create good introduction to lead the climax of the film.
Make sure to create main protagonist's rise from their crisis point before the act 3 for protagonists to focus on their inner self to recognie the truth of themselves and struggle to achieve main goal.
3, Act 3
It is the section where we have to make a good scene to end the film. How we should make a good ending for the film? We should make re-ignites the protagonist's motivation after their loss. It should summarise the story and character's goal so audience get satisfied and gives a sence of "payoff". After the protagonist struggle and achieve main goal during the climax (or main crisis) in the film, the story must anser all of story for audience and conclude for the story. Every story developer must understand in the ending, the story must be understandable by solving all of problems come out during the story to loose ends.
3, 3 story structure example
In this section, I'm going to show up the basic ideas about 3 story structure by showing short film "Giang".
1st (Introducing story)
The male protagonist just approaching to the old guy in the road, then he smiles to introduce what's going to happen.
The light itself is blue, the shaking and looking downwards to express he's on pins and needle.
His curious was focus on the sound by expressing camera's close shot of grass of drink and sound of spining drink.
2nd (Move to the core part of the story)
After the introduction of story itself the story goes to the main core.
During the conversation, the camera doesn't rotate over 180 so the position of two character doesn't change so viewers can understand.
The caracteristic itself was quite well-described by his forcus and mood expressed by action of Wen Guang (this film's protagonist).
The shot itself is tend to use closer shot to express the relaionshiop around Wen Guang and thought of him.
Sudden BGM mute and close shot on one object to express the any notise that Wen Guang made.
3rd (climax of the film and it goes to an end.)
Very close shot of Guang face and grass o express his interest and advantage that he really interests and skill.
Flashback to the current scene ha can ecpress what he was trying to do.
The music itself also tries to mpove the drama goes dramatic.
The light tome of the screen lso goes to vivid warm colour to show that the Guang finally achieved what he's really trying to do.
