Task 3 : Exercise 1
1, Introduction
・Introduction
This is my final artwork for Advanced Typography and I have to create typefaces to solve typographic problems. My goal was creating my new typofaces based on my design ideas when I made Key artworks.
To sum up the ideas first, the process of designing typofaces wasn't just about designing each shapes for alphabet and numeric characters, but it is also about the ideas to maintain balance in the both characters and spaces.

Development
1, Ideas
First of al, my final artwork production was started from founding ideas to develop, however, from last semester, I already had an idea for typographic design, the idea is about "Simplify the alphabetic characters like a symbol" .
In the last semester, I had a typographic ideas to designing the characters like a symbols, however, this idea was not fully developed and I just designed
The idea itself I made at this time wasn't become a real typofaces, but when I develop the typographic works for task 2, the idea to create symbolic font came out again. These ideas I made for task 2 had become influence for my task 3 development.
Even though I had no influence from other works, but from my past works and past ideas I made in last semester was strong influence fo my development, then I started to desig whole character's based on the ideas that "making the characters like a symbols".
The ideas or my work is actually based on other ideas, the idea itself was made when I was doing my first e-portfolio, I found the information that the alphabetic characterswere originally based on image, the image has become sybolised and simplified as time passed and it becomes the alphabetic characters.
The main poin I mainly focused on this process is to emphasise the part of each alphabetic characters where is the most representive part of them. In the serif font, there is a part called "descender" which is basically thick stroke. I found that each thicker stroke part of every alphabet characters may be used to represent each characters with least representations. This minimalistic art representation is also main idea I used for this representations. As the example shown above, I Tried to focus on simplify every alphabetic characters as muas possible, and I also try to remain the readability, for example, when I try to design the character "B", I tried to simplify by removing the upper curved line at first, but when I tried it, I found that it may lead confucion to read as lowercase "b", therefore I decided to remain both curved lines and remove vertical line of "B". I also tried similar thing on the character "Q", firstly, I just added the short vertical line on the character "O", but because of the similalities to the character "O", then I tried to remove the lower left curved part of the "Q" to simplify it.
In this fontset, I resuced most of stroke to remain just the main strike that can represent individual characters such as characters like "A", "B", "E", "F", "H", "K", "Q" and "T", however, because of the character's stroke is too simple (I guess this is because ), I remain the original shape of the character such as "C", "I", "O", "S" and "Z". The one expectation is character "X", I tried to simplify every characters by maintaning consept of "able to represent by one stroke", but whatever I tried, the readability of "X" got lost, so I desiced to connect both stroke of "X". This is what I tried to represent each characters.
When I complete designing all of characters, I finally moved to the converting process, but when I tried the first time, the space between each characters are too empty, therefor the impression of the font itself was boring.
I tried to adjust the space between characters, then the impression of the characters are finally better. I found that the balance of closed and opeed space between each characters in the sentences are highy importantl.

Experience
In this semester, I had lot of enjoyable moment to develop my own working to develop and I really enjoyed the moment to deveop my work, howeve because of my lack of time to manage due to completing other sublect woke, I had not enough time to do advanced typograpic work as I wanted to do. The example is when I was doing the task 2, I was doing the work about Honor project, I was also required to do key artwork and I was also needed to do the other classes work, as the result, the my own honor work isn't enough work to submit for me but I needed to submit the wok, therefore I regret a bit that I could not spend enough time to complete my own work, but it was really fun to doing the Advanced typographic work. Each work I used my own way to represent my visual ideas with using my effort, as the result, I like every work I've done in the class.
Mr Vinod himself was also helpful, he gave me many advises to develop my works and they were always helpful for me.
In the end, I had a great experience at the Mr Vinod's Advanced Typography although there were some problem and trouble during the class, I hope I could spend more time tfor typograohy in the future.
Observation
To sum up about the things I've got the first, the skill to using adobe softwares are surely improved since semester 1. At the first time I've beed to this university, I culd not use the Adobe softwares so I was using other free softwares or analogue tool to design my own work, but during the semester 2, the time I use digital tool was increased and the skill to create my own works had been also improved compared to the time at semester 2. Even through there were many problems during the production, such as the data was deleted because the laptop was run out of battery or cause of the my lack of knowledge, the way to use the software didn't go well as how I expected...., but at the end, the using digital tool had beed improved better than before.
Findings
Even though I had a time to refer to the old professional work as references (for example, my final outcome of ley artwork was strongly inspired from Piet Mondorian's artworks), I could not spend time to research about typographic works for improving my development, I think my next goal is spending much more time to research typographic references to develop even better works.
