1, Introduction

In this week, We've learnt about LATCH architecture. LATCH is basically the idea to manage the information used for effective information representation. This kind of principle is about the elements to manage information efficiently. This kind of features are usually used for UX designer, but it doesn't mean that anyone who isn't UX designer shouldn't memorise this idea. This kind of information usage technique can be used for other works.

2, LATCH

First of all, LATCH is the short term of the initials of each ways of information organization as shown below.

・Location

・Alphabet

・Times

・Category

・Hierarchy

These method may be seemed too simple to understand, but these features are things that we can't miss for designing information visially.

1, Location

As the title can suggest, this is the method to organize information based on its location. This idea is mainly used for data that requires any geographical information. The good example is any deliverly service or taxi service.

Ex 1,1 Taxi booking app

This kind of information organization isn't used for only representing location, this kind of information is used for organizing the things to show related to the location in particular way. The example is car booking service app, you need to know the current location of available car rather than detailed map of entire city, "Location" method organizes the important inormation relating to the location information.

2, Alphabet

It is similar to the when you organize books in bookshelf, most of the case you usually organize the books in order of name of either title, author or publishers alphabetically, there are same thing happen in the world of design, but there's more things you need to consider about this idea.

Ex 1,2 Cooking website

The one of the points of this idea is labels you need to sort. Good example is about recipe website, if some of the recipe labels with "Delicious" or "Easy", most of cooking recipe is going to be placed under D"" or "E" and might cause confusion.

Labeling of each items for organizing is highly important in this method.

3, Time

This is simple and easy to understand. This is the data organazation idea that is based on time. This is one of the most common way to organize data, example is the history of browsing website sorted bt times. This kind of methos is used in Social media websites, with the organizing any posting on SNS based on times, we can view most recent events in their SNS. This kind of system is commonly used in SNS.

4, Category

 This is also one of well-used technique to sort content on websites. As you may already know, category is the organizing method refering to any meaningful group, with reference to the website or the audience. The main issue for this idea is that categories itself should make sense to your users.

This kind of technique is using both real life and websites, the Amazon is the good example for this. The similar category should be combined to make easiler for viewers to use.

5, Hierarchy

Unlike others, this may be a bit difficult to understand for you, however this is also one of the method. In the shop you go to buy something, likely the things to sell is organized in order of size or height. Hierarchy is also one of the metod doing the similar things. Similar to the "Alphabet" method, this technique sorting the elements in articular order such as size, cost, popularity etc.

Similar to the Categoy method, this system is also used in the online shopping service, products for sell in the websites are organized in particular order by this hierarchy method.

These are main 5 main method to prganizing the elements, in the information design, all designer must use the correct method efficientky to provide a better impression for viewers.

3, Poster

For this task, I researched briefly about ASEAN and made a simple poster with efficient usage of LATCH expression to explain about general information related to the ASEAN.

The reason to use Location method in this poster is because to explain about general information about ASEAN (which means that only explaining about what ASEAN is), I thoght it should be about the member of ASEAN to explain about which nation is ASEAN member and where they are.

I jus use four short text information to explain about aim of ASEAN, the reason of why not using LATCH is because these kind of explanation can't use LATCH to organize the information to show, therefore I used ASEAN polandball to explain about purose of ASEAN briefly.
