1, Introduction
I am going to write down my second E-portfolio about Shading and shadowing for architectural designs. The shadow and shade is the design elements that can determines areas of object by shape and tone of dark area between rays of any light sources and a surface.
Additionally, We've also learnt technoque called "Hatching" which is the various ways to create any tones or shadow into the object. This tutorial is about making shade and shadows by using 4 different hatches.
2, Production
First of all I was required to learn ways to "Hatching" to create any tones for my own design. The Hatching technique I've learnt is "Hatching", "Scribbling", "Cross Hatching" and "Stipping".
I need to do first was to understand the way to create different tones by using these four methods.
The main point of the way to create various tone was making different dence of each visuall elements that makes various tone differences. My own way to control was gradually increase/decrease power/density of each lines/dots for the tones.
The another point is that making tones itself is also one of the things I should consider carefully. The video told us about that Hatching itself isn't just applying some darker colour. There are some reflected light and blured shadow place exists, therefore, I was required to make a draft work made by pencil (drawn lines in light power.) The point was that there are still bit brighter place in the shadow and shade area because of reflected light. The point was that adjusting tone of darkness while thinking light reflection.
After Adjustment of some part of sketching, I finally complete my work.
3, Conclusion
The work was hard to adjust each hatching style to adjust tone of brightness and darkness. The main key was controlling density and thickness (strength of each stroke for hatching) for making various tone. Some hatching such as stipping or scribblings were pretty hard since it was hard to adjust the strength and density of tone. I overcome this issue by making early draft work to adjust tone itself.
