1, Introduction

Today, we've learnt about the photograph term of lighting. It may seem similar to the topic we've learnt before which is about smain point that should be followed when you take a photography. but the topic we've leanrt is about "the part of darka nd light on the object and how we should handle it."

2, Topic

In this lesson, we've learnt the term of lighting of photograph in some design studio and we have used lighting equipment to learn about brighter and darker part of the object in the photograph.

Mr. Mohd told us that the photograph isn't just showing the brighter part of image (in the photography I am using in this page is my jar that contains my lunch at that day.) as shown below.

The point is by organising the angle of both main light and sub light to create a better light and dark contrast by handling main light and sub light we used in the studio to make a nice contrast between light and dark with maintain natural shape of jar itself.

3, My work

Even though it may seem very easy, handling both main bright ligh and sub weak light is harder that how I expected. This is because if I use too much strong light as main light,

It goes too bright and the darker part will become same colour as background so it gets distorted.

After I used too much strong light, I handle the light strangth by hanging position of the main light and distance from my jar, but as the result, the impression of jar itself become much weaker as shown below.

As you can see, because of the light I used is too weak, the darker part become invincible, therefore I was required sensitive light handling.

In the end, I finally made a perfect balance between brighter and darker part of the object and nice contrast between light and dark.

I also tried to emphasis sub light more that light up from opposite side of the main light, but I found that it's impossible due to the limitation of sun light brightness.

4, Summary

In the actiual photography, I tend not to focus on the handling brightness and darkness of the light and shadow, so I had no idea how we can change its impression by just handling brightness of the light by changing the position and light of the both main and sub light source. In the end I have maid noce photograph of jar. The brightness and darkness of the light can change not only how it looks in the final product, but it can also change its impression.
