2, Introduction

Before the end of semester, We had a time to complete final submission. According to the lecture, the final submission is about creating a video of digital surrealism.

As you may already noticed that surrealism is the one type of the art style that may looks real but it can't be real physically. The image itself looks real by drawn so realistic or using photo edit collectly so it looks so real. 

First of all, when I heared about the information tha the task to be completed is about creating surrealism image, I came up one artist name, Erik Johanson, who is the Swedish photographer who makes realistic, but unreal images as shown below.

I was trying to represent my work as Erik Johanson and I also tried to represent Malaysia and myself because I wanted to represent the place I spent almost 8 years.

I also add my favourite hobby, playing video games, to represent my characteristics.

I tried to make my own artworks by referred these images shown below.

I tried these references to create my own design about myself in surrealism style.

Then I tried to merge with my selfie with Malaysian natural landscape such as shown below. I tried to represent the water falling from my head cracking like an egg as shown below.

I started to merge my selfie with cracked egg as shown below. I started to merge from hide some part of my selfie where inside of empty egg can be seen, then I add the picture of cracked edd so it looks like I am cracking like an egg as shown below.

After I make photograph of myself as shown above, I tried to create my selfie like head cracking like an egg, after that I applied the landscape of the Malaysia so it looks like as I planned in early time.

To say conclusion first, this idea ends up with rejected idea. The reason for this is because I also wanted to try to represent my head cracked like an egg shell, but when I tried to insert Malaysian landscape, the part of my head where crack like an egg was hidden and became unable to see, therefore I rejected this idea and I decided to make surrealistic work to represent myself like Matryoshka.

I tried to represent myself as the one living in Malaysia. First, I tried to merge my image with Malaysian nature so it looks like water falling from my head cracked like an egg shell, but when I checked it, it didn't look like water falling on my head at all, therefore I changed my mind to represent myself with my growth. 

I used my selfie which I took when I was in the previous school as my main photograph, and I used my recent selfie to represent my growth. I also put my past photograph which my whole body was taken as a message that I still hold my past things such as knowledge, experience, regret and so on.

As I tried to represent myself living in Malaysia, I used KL landscape as background, but unfortunately, the twin tower is hidden by the front image, therefore I add KL tower in my background. I also added a kite as one part of the background.

I also tried to represent my favorite things, playing video games. I used the image of the spaceship which I used before. The image of the spaceship itself is made by pixel,  so we can easily represent video games. I also made a pixel cloud that must merge with the background sky which looks to be taken in the morning.

To sum up my surrealism work, The main point I was trying to represent was “Malaysia” and myself. This is because I have spent almost 8 years in the Malaysia and I feel like Malaysia as second my home country, therefore,, I tried to represent time I spend in Malaysia, in the result, my representation was successful because merging my selfie and malaysia is not bad and I also represent my growth by showing newer image of myself like Matryoshka.

I also made a video using Adove After effect.
