Reflection

For these 14 weeks, I've learnt the way to design text or characters which I have never experienced before. Because of that the fact which I had a delay to use Adobe softwares than others, I struggle to handle designing any text or works by using Adobe softwares such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and indesign, however I have surely learned fundamental ideas for designing text or characters through this typography lessons.
During This typography lectures, I have read some of the books related to the typography to understand more about designing my own works, (even though I could read much more works...) those books I have read surely helped me to improve my works, but I think I haven't watched enough Typography videos, this is what I should do for next step .
The problem I found through these 14 weeks is that I sometimes found misunderstanding or given work and delay for work. These problems happened because I didn't listen to the lecturer properly and I misunderstood a given task on my own. Those things lead me to make mistakes for given tasks.
I should ask about given task to the lecturer for next time to prevent same mistake happen again.
To sum up, I've learnt many design ideas and it was a good experience to read typography books, but I should read more typography books and watch typography videos in the future.
I experienced a great design lecture where I could learn many text design ideas on my own.

Observations

To state the topics I've learnt first, through this typography lecture, I've learnt about designing text visual visual images, building text page format, designing characters themselves, and designing stickers using characters as main visual images. Before I started to learn about typography, I thought typography was about just decorating text for books, but though I've learnt about typography, I realized that there are many histories and ideas for typography and these points are used for improving readability and stability of text itself.
I found it useful to use any ideas I found in the books or lecture videos that the lecturer provided for us because there are many ideas that can be used for my own design, especially, I found books are very useful for my typography design.
I also used design ideas that I've learnt in different design lectures, especially I found useful to apply ideas I've learnt in Design principles. Visual balance, Contrast, Colors, Symbols, and other features were very useful to design my own works.

Findings

I sometimes struggle to organize to have time to design my own typography works because I have other lecture's task to be completed, therefore I'm so happy that I finally completed my every given task for Typography.
As I mentioned earlier, typography work can't be done by just applying visual images to the text, but it's about decorating text or characters to express word's own meaning efficiently. I think this is the one I've learnt most in the class.
I think that the Typography lecture I've done so far was very productive to express given words' meaning efficiently and beautifully for the viewers.
I am very much looking forward to learning more about designing text or characters more interesting to read.
